Peel

Peel, a powerful data analytics platform for Shopify stores, wanted to refresh its brand to stand out from other tech platforms and make analytics more approachable for creative shop owners. With the help of Frank Collective, we rebranded Peel with a stronger sense of personality and ease of use, highlighting the fun side of analytics and capturing the team’s friendly, hands-on approach. Our goal was to transform the perception of data from something intimidating into something engaging, useful, and even enjoyable.

Putting a Face to the Name

Through our strategy exercises, we developed a brand personality called “The Playful Guru,” inspired by the COO’s description of her team as “the nerds who want to help you with your homework.” This led to a brand identity system that took a highly visual and interactive approach, making data feel more accessible and dynamic. At the heart of this transformation was “Pal,” a friendly and approachable guide between the structured world of business and the vibrant, colorful world of analytics. Pal literally pulls back the curtain on business data, revealing insights through engaging illustrations and playfully interacting with data shapes and dashboards. We brought this concept to life through world-building and brand application, crafting two distinct realms—Business, a black-and-white, structured space, and Analytics, a world bursting with color and movement.

Your Data Decoder

To reinforce this new brand direction, we revamped Peel’s website content structure, shifting to a solutions-forward messaging approach that quickly communicates how Shopify store owners can leverage Peel to boost their profits. By prioritizing intuitive design and user-friendly messaging, we made a complex tech product feel simple and approachable. We also developed comprehensive brand guidelines covering visuals, tone of voice, typography, and a detailed framework for illustrating Pal and his interactions with the two worlds. This ensured a cohesive and engaging brand experience across all touchpoints, solidifying Peel as both a trusted analytics partner and a playful, supportive resource for its users.
